Adrienne Shaw received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication in 2010.

In the Fall of 2010, she was be a visiting postdoctoral scholar at the Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad.

As of January 2011, she is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Communication.

Her research focuses on popular culture, the politics of representation, cultural production and qualitative audience research. Her primary areas of interest are video games, gaming culture, representations of gender and sexuality, and the construction of identity and communities in relation to media consumption.
